About Urbana
Located off 13th Avenue, in the center of Borough Park, lies a trendy new restaurant called Urbana, that is worthy of Manhattan. Opened in July of 2016, they are serving upscale, dairy dishes that are not the average. The brick walls, wooden tables and hanging light bulbs provide a dim, romantic lighting to serve a very modern atmosphere. Power couple, Ben and Sarah Grossman, also the owners of Sub Express around the block, have much experience in restaurant managing.
They have created a unique menu that does not encompass the already done penne ala vodka or baked ziti. A must try are the Spring Rolls which are deliciously fried dough, filled with Cranberry Cheese, Wild Mushrooms and Shallots, topped with Cranberries, and served with a side of Date Silan Tahini. The Sweet Potato Fritters are another must-try. The sweet appetizer of battered Sweet Potatoes, topped with Goat Cheese Crumble and drizzled Balsamic Reduction is a great preview as to what the rest of the meal will be like.
The Gnocchi Pesto is a fan favorite, with a Creamy Pesto Sauce, Heirloom Tomato Confit, and Parmesan Dust. For those who are daring, be sure the order the Whole Bronzini, filled with Yukon Gold Mashed Potatoes, Mushroom and Leek Confit, Red Grapes, and Pistachios. Simple, yet delicious, the Classic Margarita Pizza really stands out. The Fresh Mozzarella, perfectly spiced House Made Tomato Sauce, Basil Chiffonade, and Garlic Oil complement each other very well. Save room for dessert! The Classic Crepe with Brown Sugar Syrup and Pineapple will heighten your enjoyment.
This beautifully decorated, and rustic restaurant is one of the most charming environments to be in. Reservations should be made, and lunch hours will be available as well. Great food, and a great ambiance will ensure you that Urbana will soon be one of your favorite spots to dine in!
