About Sarah’s Brick Oven
Located in Chicago’s main Jewish suburb, Skokie, is the newest kosher hotspot, Sarah's Brick Oven Pizza. In Chi Town, they take their pizza seriously and Sarah's doesn't disappoint! This dairy restaurant has a very extensive menu and they are open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
You might think this place is just a pizza store, but you will quickly learn that it's so much more than that. It's a quaint and cute Mediterranean, Middle Eastern, Sephardic and Italian Cafe owned by the full of passion, veteran restaurateur, Michael Atias.
Michael, who was born in Israel, and lived in Florida, opened and worked at many kosher restaurants, such as Soho. Almost 2 years ago he got a calling and opportunity to take over the 4 decade Hungarian Kosher Supermarket in Skokie, adding the name Sarah's Tent from Aventura, Florida, where he worked. In December 2018, he took over the next door store, and named it Sarah's Brick Oven, making it the nicest dairy restaurant in the area. The food is fresh, made with detail and a great option for friends, family and couples.
The décor is warm and welcoming with a few kitschy twists. The ceiling features a fresco of clouds, surrounded by upside down cups and saucers. The ceiling may seem like an unlikely place for surprises but attention to detail and fun atmosphere flows perfectly.
They offer a daily soup selection and other traditional starters. There are 4 types of shakshuka, 6 types of Malawach, and pasta. Make sure to try some of their newest menu options, like the Sunnyside up, warm quinoa bowl with cucumber, tomato, red onion, parsley, kalamata olives, mint, zaatar, served with Tahini, or the Winter Bowl with quinoa, roasted zucchini, chickpeas, red onion, feta, avocado, crispy sweet potato, served with a vinaigrette. The Quesadilla with cheese, onion, mushrooms, homemade guacamole, sour cream is also noteworthy. They have so many homemade selections to choose from, such as the Homemade Cheese Blintzes. Don’t forget to treat yourself to some Hot Milk Chocolate Cocoa, prepared Israeli style.
