About Next Door
Chefs Adir Cohen and Liad Ichiye hail from Tel Aviv, and at Next door LA, they’ve brought over the cuisine of their homeland. Next Door LA opened in December of 2022 and has brought modern Israeli cuisine, i.e., high-end kosher Mediterranean fusion, to the Jews of Los Angeles ever since.
Located “next door” to Dr. Sandwich, Next Door LA is incredibly spacious. It’s the perfect place for a fancy meal or event; they host events, cater weddings, bar mitzvahs, etc.
A mural on the wall of a flower in bloom draws your eye the minute you enter. The wood and gold-trimmed aesthetic are comforting and the hanging lights give the space a fancy feel. The open kitchen allows the diners to be part of the food making magic. This is not a takeout place; the food should be eaten at the restaurant to give diners the full experience.
When people think of Mediterranean cuisine, they think of falafel or hummus, but modern Israeli cuisine uses new cutting-edge cooking techniques from all over the world, such as French, Asian, and Italian. This is the food of Tel Aviv.
On the menu, you’ll find appetizers such as Moroccan cigars and bluefish tuna sashimi. Asia and Italy meet with yellowtail carpaccio, which has freshly squeezed tomatoes, dill, vegan yogurt, cilantro, shallots, and sesame crackers. Italian pasta dishes such as mushroom gnocchi and ragu fettuccini (for those who need a little meat in their pasta) complement more traditional Mediterranean dishes such as lamb chops with stuffed onions. The meat menu boasts a burger with Wagyu beef, plus other great options such as steak, short ribs, or chicken.
Craft cocktails and curated wine list compliment the food. Cocktails such as infused spicy margarita, give a twist to the traditional drink. The Kosher wine list features winery such as Covenant, Binyamina and Herzog.
If you stop by on a Thursday night be ready for a party. Featuring a live DJ set, Next Door is where you need to be.
Plus, you can join Next Door LA every Monday for sushi night with Next Door’s chefs. A special menu includes appetizers, sushi, hand rolls, and sake. Those hailing from the Mediterranean know fish. Both Chefs led kitchens in award-winning restaurants in Tel Aviv, including Herbert Samuel and Yafo-Tel-Aviv, to name a few. The future of Israeli cuisine can be found in Tel Aviv, and Tel Aviv cuisine can be found at Next Door LA.
