About Kitchen 18

Rabbi Jordan Brumer likes to joke that he fell off a scooter, banged his head, and decided to buy a restaurant. The true story is that he has been a Rabbi for 18 years, and he needed a change, so when a friend was selling his restaurant in Scottsdale, Arizona Rabbi Brumer jumped at the chance to buy the place. He still works as a Rabbi; he and his wife run a kiruv program on college campuses for unaffiliated Jewish youths. Nothing brings Jews together like food, and when Rabbi Jordan bought Kitchen 18 in 2021, he made it a place that where the kids he worked could gather and eat. Kitchen 18 provides the food for various programs run by his Kiruv program, and he loves bringing the students he works with to the restaurant.

Located in Scottsdale Arizona, kitchen 18 is 15 minutes from Phoenix and a 20-minute drive from the Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport. Being that the weather is nice and dry, it’s a haven for tourists. Kitchen 18 is located in the heart of the Jewish community and serves a little bit of everything. They have an excessive Chinese menu, burgers, steaks, chicken, sushi, pastas, and soups. It’s a fine-casual sit down place with waiters and cloth napkins.  Their known for their large portions and variety. Diners know they can come five days a week and have a different type of meal each time, with tons of leftovers to bring home.

Chef Steve trained in a prestigious Chinese cooking school, which is one of the reasons the Chinese food is so popular; He knows what he’s doing. The most popular Chinese menu item is the Sesame Chicken, white meat chicken which has been battered, deep fried, and cooked in a wok in sesame sauce. Chef Oscar, who has been in the industry for 12 years, handles the American dishes. His pastrami burger is a best seller, made of grass-fed beef, grilled and served with hot pastrami and fried onion. For dessert, there are so many appealing choices. You can’t go wrong with the hot runny chip, homemade apple strudel, or fried banana, which is wrapped in pastry dough, dipped in cinnamon and sugar, and deep fried. All desserts come with non-dairy ice cream too!

Also, coming soon, Kitchen 18 will have its own bakery with items perfect for your Shabbos table. Speaking of, they have a Shabbos takeout menu. Whether you want to order from the regular menu for Shabbos, or the special Shabbos menu, they have you covered. They also cater.

Kitchen 18 has become a staple of the Jewish community in Scottsdale, especially the younger crowd. We’re all so glad that Rabbi Jorden fell off that metaphorical scooter.
