About Kalamata Italian Cafe

Lakewood is not known for it's late nights and dining establishments tend to close on the earlier side, as do takeout places. That’s why when Elhanan Reuven opened Kalamata in 2019, he decided to keep it open late. It was just a pizza store back then, but in 2020, he opened a full restaurant. Whether you want to go out and have a nice sit-down dinner or are just looking to order a pizza after 7:00 p.m., Kalamata has you covered. They’re open until 9:30 for both!

Kalamata has a very laid-back vibe. It’s the sort of place you can just relax and enjoy yourself. There’s a lot of wood, with reds, greens, blacks, and grays. The servers are treated with respect, and they pay it forward. They’re very personable, which regulars respond to.

While the vibe may be totally chill, the food will warm your heart. Everything is made in-house from the freshest ingredients. The chefs don’t cut corners, priding themselves on making the tastiest food they possibly can.

The popcorn cauliflower and avocado salad are two of their most favored appetizers. When it comes to the meal, fish dishes such as the maple glazed Chilean sea bass are increasingly popular, as is the handmade sweet potato ravioli in a sundried tomato cream sauce. There’s a wide variety of artisan pizzas as well as specialty milkshakes like the lotus munch and the dulce de leche supreme.

Kalamata not only has dine-in and delivery until late; they also cater events and have a catering hall with an option to do outdoor catering. They will work with your party planner or provide their own, depending on your preference.

People are often surprised by how good the food is at Kalamata. Some come in expecting average pizza and are blown away by the wow factor in the mix of flavors that come together in unison for each dish. The chefs have worked in Israel and Italy, and they’ve brought their knowledge of cuisine to Kalamata. When everything is fresh and made on the premises, there is a difference in taste that really shows.
