Open for decades and recently under new management, Bagel Town is West Hempstead’s bagel and breakfast headquarters. What sets this Long Island bakery apart is not only the extensive variety of different baked goods they produce every day, but also the fact that all of that variety — everything they produce — is completely free of any sesame or nut products, making Bagel Town the perfect option for most food allergy sufferers.

As you would expect the bagels at Bagel Town are top-notch, and all of your favorite flavors are there, from Poppy Seed to Pumpernickel and from Egg to Everything; there are also Mini Bagels, Bialys, and crispy thin Flagels. All of these can be topped with the classics, including any of half a dozen cream cheese flavors; egg, tuna, or whitefish salad; lox; butter; jelly; or eggs. Or, for something a little out of the ordinary, fill your bagel sandwich with avocado, baked salmon salad, or spicy or honey mustard tuna.

But Bagel Town offers plenty more than just the expected bagels and bialys. Croissants are available in both regular and chocolate iterations, and there are several varieties of fresh-baked sweet treats, including apple turnovers, cinnamon buns, cinnamon sticks, brownies, and an assortment of cookies. Bagel Town could just as easily call itself Danish Town, because their take on the quintessential breakfast pastry — filled with your choice of apricot, prune, chocolate, or cinnamon — is the talk of Long Island. Nine flavors of muffins, including corn, crumb cake, and cranberry, make the perfect addition to your breakfast or save-for-later snack.

Bagel Town isn’t all about the bread, however: they have delicious omelettes, soups, salads, and wraps to keep your meal low- or no-carb, and they offer some less flour-focused (yet equally decadent) dessert items like cheesecakes and fruit pies. Again, the entire facility is sesame- and nut-free, and they even offer several egg-free options as well, so you can confidently invite everyone to your party when you have Bagel Town handle the catering. Speaking of catering, Bagel Town is expert at making your event special, offering not only larger sharing sizes of almost all the breakfast items described above, but also a huge variety of platters, pastries, and even pastas that you won’t find on the regular breakfast menu.
